Tuesday Ratings: CBS in Repeats From 8-10 p.m. ET; Modest Results Elsewhere

Tuesday 4/20/21 Preliminary Primetime Ratings
Total Viewers:
CBS: 4.73 million, Fox: 2.68, NBC: 2.60, ABC: 2.31, CW: 475,000
Adults 18-49:
ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox: 0.4 rating/3 share, CW: 0.1/ 1
Despite airing repeats of “NCIS” and “FBI”, CBS still managed to win this third Thursday in April in total viewers. Keep in mind that “This Is Us” on NBC was also an encore telecast (as was “The Flash” on The CW).
In the news special department was “The Chauvin Verdict”, with Gayle King and Norah O’Donnell on CBS, which finished third in the Tuesday 10 p.m. ET with 2.46 million viewers (#3) and 0.3/ 2 (#3). The competition was NBC medical drama “New Amsterdam” (Viewers: #1, 3.53 million; A18-49: $1t, 0.4/ 3) and freshman ABC drama “Big Sky” (Viewers: #2, 2.93 million; A18-49: #1t, 0.4/ 3).
In week three news, ABC competition series “Pooch Perfect” was stalled in the Tuesday 8 p.m. hour with just 2.27 million viewers (#3) and a 0.4/ 3 in the demo (#3t). Also lacking were lead-out 9-10 p.m. comedies “black-ish” (Viewers: #4, 1.87 million; A18-49: #2t, 0.4/ 2) and “Mixed-ish” (Viewers: #4, 1.60 million; A18-49: #3t, 0.3/ 2t). A third season of “Mixed-ish”? I think not.
Elsewhere, NBC sitcom “Kenan” stands little-to-no chance of a second season renewal, with a mere 1.90 million viewers (#34) and a 0.3/ 2 in adults 18-49 (#4) at 8:30 p.m. Lead-in “Young Rock” (Viewers: #3, 2.62 million; A18-49: #1t, 0.5/ 4 at 8 p.m.) is better positioned for a renewal. Fox featured dramas “The Resident” (Viewers: #3, 3.34 million; A18-49: #1t: 0.5/ 3 at 8 p.m.) and “Prodigal Son” (Viewers: #2, 2.03 million; A18-49: #2, 0.4/ 2 at 9 p.m.). And “Supergirl” on The CW (Viewers: #5, 535,000; A18-49: 0.1/ 1 at 9 p.m.) was also an original.
