Sunday Overnights: ‘Motown 60: A Grammy Celebration’ Special Leads CBS to Victory

Sunday, April 21, 2019
Household Ratings/Share
CBS: 5.0/ 9, ABC: 3.4/ 7, NBC: 1.9/ 3, Fox: 0.8/ 2, CW: 0.6/ 1
Percent Change From the Year-Ago Evening:
CBS: – 4, ABC: – 6, NBC: -24, Fox: -27
Ratings Breakdown:
CBS topped this holiday Sunday in the household overnights, with 8-10 p.m. ET musical special “Motown 60: A Grammy Celebration” (#1: 5.1 rating/9 share) besting competing “American Idol” on ABC (4.1/ 8) and “World of Dance” on NBC (2.2/ 4) by 24 percent and 132 percent respectively. And that led into on-the-fence CBS political drama “Madam Secretary” (#1: 3.6/ 7) leading the 10 p.m. hour, with an advantage over competing “Shark Tank” on ABC (2.6/ 5) and already renewed “Good Girls” on NBC (1.7/ 3) by 38 percent and 112 percent, respectively. The renewal for “Good Girls” is a result of the interest in the one-hour dramedy on Netflix.
Tops for the night was CBS granddaddy “60 Minutes” at a 6.3/13 in households in the 7 p.m. hour.
Elsewhere, The CW had nothing unusual to report with its already renewed pairing of “Supergirl” (#5: 0.7/ 1 at 8 p.m.) and the reboot of “Charmed” (#5: 0.5/ 1 at 9 p.m.), which has clearing not resonated this season. And Fox was in repeats on this Easter Sunday as follows:
