ABC’s ‘Celebrity Family Feud’ Leads Sluggish Sunday

SUNDAY 6/18/17
What follows are the metered market household results by half-hour for Sunday, June 25, 2017:
Household Rating/Share
ABC: 3.5/ 7, CBS: 3.4/ 6, NBC: 1.8/ 3, Fox: 0.7/ 1
Percent Change from the Year-Ago Evening:
CBS: +13, Fox: no change, ABC: -22, NBC: -44
Ratings Breakdown:
ABC’s “Celebrity Family Feud” was the top-rated entertainment telecast on this final Sunday in June, with a 4.7 rating/9 share in the household overnights at 8 p.m. And that led into an also dominant 3.5/ 6 for recent entry “Steve Harvey’s Funderdome” at 9 p.m. Combined with “Little Big Shots: Forever Young,” busy Harvey has three current primetime series on the air at present.
ABC’s “The $100,000 Pyramid” also won the 10 p.m. hour with a 3.4/ 6, and earlier in the evening was an encore telecast of “America’s Funniest Home Videos” at a third-place 2.3/ 5 at 7 p.m. Mirroring last season, the summer Sunday night game shows continue to work for the alphabet net.
On NBC, recent newsmagazine entry “Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly” remained a bust at a 2.5/ 5 in the 7 p.m. hour, trailing CBS granddaddy “60 Minutes” (#1 for the night: 5.4/11) by a hefty 54 percent. Needless to say, this is not positive news for NBC, particularly with Kelly joining the “Today” show franchise this fall.
Next on NBC was a repeat of 2010 theatrical “Despicable Me” at a mere 1.6/ 3 from 8-10 p.m. And that led into an encore of “Little Big Shots: Forever Young” at a third-place 1.5/ 3 at 10 p.m. Yes, this is the summer…lots of repeats!
The only other original telecast night was Fox reality/competition “True Grit” at a mere 0.8/ 1 at 9 p.m., which was only equal to second-runs of “Family Guy” and “Last Man on Earth” on the year-ago evening.
Earlier in the evening on Fox were repeats of “Bob’s Burgers” (#4: 0.6/ 1), “Last Man on Earth” (#4: 0.4/ 1), “The Simpsons” (#4: 0.7/ 1) and “Family Guy” (#4: 0.8/ 2) from 7-9 p.m.
Following aforementioned “60 Minutes,” CBS aired encores of “NCIS: Los Angeles” (#2: 3.3/ 6), “Madam Secretary” (#2: 2.8/ 5) and “Code Black” (#2: 2.1/ 4) from 8-11 p.m. Next Sunday, “Big Brother” returns in the Sunday 8 p.m. ET hour.
