Game three of the “NBA Finals” (Golden State Warriors 118, Cleveland Cavaliers 113) lifted ABC to a significant Wednesday overnight victory with an estimated 12.9 rating/23 share in households in primetime (from 9-11 p.m. ET). The end time for the game was 11:53 p.m. ET. One year earlier, the NBA match-ups scored a 12.0/20 in the metered markets, which gives last night’s game an eight percent overnight advantage. As a reminder, results for any live sporting event are always approximate.
Earlier in the evening on ABC was “Jimmy Kimmel Live” at a 3.4/ 6 (#2) in the 8 p.m. half-hour into a 4.2/ 8 (#2) for the “NBA Countdown,” which are also both estimated.
In week two news, Fox’s “The F Word with Gordon Ramsey” took a hit opposite the “NBA Finals,” with a fourth-place 1.6/ 3 in the 9 p.m. hour. Comparably, that was 30 percent below the 2.3/ 4 one week earlier, which translated into 3.33 million viewers and a 1.0 rating/4 share in adults 18-49, based on the Live + Same Day data. It also slipped by 30 percent from lead-in “MasterChef” (#4: 2.3/ 4 at 8 p.m.).
On NBC, relocated “Little Big Shot” opened the night with a dominant 4.5/ 8 at 8 p.m., leading into a 2.6/ 4 (#3) for sitcom “The Carmichael Show,” which continues to tackle serious issues. Next was an encore telecast of “Superstore” at 9:30 p.m. (#3: 1.6/ 3) into a 1.4/ 2 for a repeat of “This Is Us” at 10 p.m.
Elsewhere, CBS populated the evening with encore broadcasts of “NCIS: New Orleans” (#3: 3.3/ 6), “Criminal Minds” (#2: 3.1/ 5) and “Code Black” (#1: 2.7/ 5). And The CW aired repeats of “Arrow” and “D.C.’s Legends of Tomorrow,” which each scored a 0.5/ 1. As a reminder, “Arrow” moves into the Thursday 9 p.m. hour out of “Supernatural” next fall. And “D.C.’s Legends of Tomorrow” is scheduled in the Tuesday 9 p.m. hour out of “The Flash.”
