NBC’s Relocated ‘Little Big Shots’ Tops Wednesday

NBC’s “Little Big Shots” lifted the network to overnight victory, topping the evening with a 4.9 rating/9 share in households as the new Wednesday 8 p.m. anchor. That led into the third season premiere of sitcom “The Carmichael Show” at a second-place 2.9/ 5 in the 9 p.m. half-hour, with an additional episode at a 2.3/ 4 (#2) at 9:30 p.m.
NBC capped off the night with an encore telecast of the pilot episode of “This Is Us” at a second-place 2.1/ 4 at 10 p.m. As reported yesterday, NBC has decided to keep “This Is Us” in the Tuesday 9 p.m. hour next season (out of “The Voice” and into upcoming “Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Brothers”) instead of moving to Thursday. NBC will now populate Thursday with a two-hour sitcom block –- “Superstore,” “The Good Place,” “Will & Grace” and “Great News” – into relocated “Chicago Fire.”
In series-premiere news, “The F Word with Gordon Ramsay” on Fox opened with a modest 2.3/ 4 in the household overnights (#3) out of a 2.7/ 5 (#3) for the season-premiere of “MasterChef” at 8 p.m. Comparably, however, “The F Word with Gordon Ramsay” did debut 21 percent higherthan the 1.9/ 3 for “Wayward Pines” on the year-ago evening.
Elsewhere, the night featured all repeats. CBS offered encores of “NCIS: Los Angeles” (#2: 3.2/ 6), “Criminal Minds” (#1: 3.2/ 6) and “Code Black” (#3: 2.7/ 5). “Code Black” will return on the Eye net in 2017-18 in midseason. ABC aired encores of “The Goldbergs” (#4: 2.2/ 4), “Speechless” (#4: 1.9/ 3), “Modern Family” (#4: 2.2/ 4) and “black-ish” (#4: 2.0/ 3) from 8-10 p.m. into the pilot episode of “Still Star-Crossed” at 10 p.m. (#3: 1.1/ 2). And The CW capped off the night with repeats of “Arrow” (#5: 0.5/ 1) and “D.C.’s Legends of Tomorrow”(#5: 0.5/ 1).
