NBC has greenlit scripted dramas “Rise” and “For God & Country” for the 2017-18 TV season. “Rise,” based on the book by Michael Sokolove and life rights of Lou Volpe, is inspired by a true story and revolves around a working-class high school drama department and the students who come alive under a passionate teacher and family man whose dedication to the program galvanizes the entire town. It stars “How I Met Your Mother’s” Josh Radnor; and “For God & Country,” is described as a heart-pounding look into the complex world of the country’s bravest military heroes who make personal sacrifices while executing the most challenging and dangerous missions behind enemy lines.
